100 Neighborful Days

100 Neighborful Days

Hello, You!

This page will help keep you up to date on all our adventures during 100 Neighborful Days, happening from now until December 31st.

Here's the weekly schedule for the Days:

  • Monday: Shout Out Day on BlueSky will highlight reporting from others around the US on good neighbors among us - individuals and groups like us, who are doing the work. The first post in the series was about our neighbor and friend Chuck in Philly. You can share items with me over email, or post them on BlueSky for me to repost, using the hashtag #neighborful.
  • Tuesday: The revamped Neighborful Gazette will bring interviews and reporting to you in audio podcast form, telling the stories of good neighbors and neighborful organizations around Pennsylvania and the US. These will be published in the Neighborful Station podcast feed on Apple, Spotify, or your favorite podcast app - starting on Tuesday, September 30th with Sabina Leybold of the 50 State Dinners Project.
  • Wednesday: After the Gazette podcast on Tuesdays, Bump Day on BlueSky is when we will share ideas from others on neighborful practices and organizations. Examples: Stoop Coffee and Friday Night Meatballs. Shout Out Monday will be more about who, and Bump Day will be more about how. In both cases, you can share resources with me over email, or post them on BlueSky for me to repost, using the hashtag #neighborful.
  • Thursday: The email newsletter for subscribers going forward will be called Neighborfully. My goal with Neighborfully is to put my work here in a larger context, and to help all of us remember that we can do good work, maybe the best work of our lives, because this moment is so challenging.
  • Friday: Easter Egg Day on BlueSky, where I share all of the little details from an episode of Neighborful Station. I'm pouring a lot of thought and effort into these episodes, and I'm excited to give you a behind-the-scenes tour of how each episode works. Here's the first one!
  • Saturday: New episodes of Neighborful Station drop on Saturday mornings, with both our regular episodes and our Sleep Editions. Be sure to like and follow the show on Apple, Spotify, or your favorite podcast app.
  • Sunday: We rest!

And here's a recap of everything we've shared over the course of the 100 days, most recent items first:

  • Tuesday, Oct 7th: The Neighborful Gazette returns with an interview with Shan, one of the organizers of the Germantown Community Fridges in Northwest Philadelphia. (Spotify)(Apple)
  • Monday, Oct 6th: In this week's Shout Out Monday, we check out the good work of sports fan neighbors all over the country.
  • Saturday, Oct 4th: Neighborful Station returns with Harvest Festival, the town's annual carnival and celebration of the autumn harvest.
  • Friday, Oct 3rd: Easter Egg Friday returned with a look back at The Everyone Playground, one of my favorite episodes to date.
  • Thursday, Oct 2nd: This week's Neighborfully introduces the concept of Grandma-Nomics, the economic model that runs Neighborful Station.
  • Wednesday, Oct 1st: We started the month of October with our first full Bump Day, lifting up resources that have come our way via the wonderful Casper ter Kuile.
  • Tuesday, Sep 30th: The Neighborful Gazette podcast launched with our interview featuring Sabina Leybold of the 50 State Dinners Project. (Spotify)(Apple)
  • Monday, Sep 29th: We officially launched Shout Out Mondays as a weekly series on BlueSky with lots of community events in celebration of Good Neighbor Day on Sunday.
  • Saturday, Sep 27th: Take a walk through the Greenhouse District on the north side of town, in Greenhouses and Gardens, this week's episode of Neighborful Station.
  • Friday, Sep 26th: Our inaugural Easter Egg Friday on BlueSky kicked off with a walk through Neighborful Station Episode 14, 4th of July Parade.
  • Wednesday, Sep 24th: For the proto-Bump Day on BlueSky, I noted that this Sunday (the 28th) is National Good Neighbor Day in the US. I also posted about Walk Around Philadelphia, a fantastic project organized by JJ Tiziou.
  • Tuesday, Sep 23rd: On BlueSky, getting underway slowly and steadily, I shared the story of a free surfing school in Queens, via the New York Times.
  • Monday, Sep 22nd: 100 Neighborful Days began with an email update to subscribers.

I'm so glad you're here for 100 Neighborful Days. Thanks for visiting!
